- After working with 15 for-profit firms and two non-profits, including a biotech firm and a professional basketball team, and seeing how the Internet of Things (IoT) might boost agricultural productivity and empower rural areas, this well-versed businessman decided to implement it.
- 2014: Taizo Otsuka officially founded Kakaxi, Inc. and his three executives, namely Chief Financial Officer Akihiko Nagata, co-founder and director Adam Smith, and secretary and lawyer Koki Terui JD.
- 2015: Taizo Otsuka sought to increase farm accountability and sustainability by combining farmers’ knowledge of data science with the farm’s owners and operators. This smart gadget employs sensor technologies to offer various on-site data to farmers and urban customers following the successful Kickstarter campaign in March 2015.
Temperature, humidity, and sap flow can all be monitored, and an inbuilt camera records films and photos that anybody can see. Kakaxi has signed agreements with major multinational food and beverage brands in its commercialization efforts.
- 2017: During September 2017, a cooperation with the popular coffee company Nespresso saw gadgets put on remote coffee farms. Because of this, you can see precisely what goes into those small coffee capsules every time you have a cup of espresso in the morning.
A portal to the coffee world has been created by Nespresso growers who utilize Kakaxi video agricultural equipment to monitor crops and share the seed to harvest tale with consumers.
